Tim Tszyu Challenges for a Second Division’s Title

Tszyu enters on three consecutive victories, including a unanimous decision over Errol Spence Jr. in July. The former super welterweight champion now attempts to take Lara’s middleweight belt in front of an Australian crowd.

“This is what I live for. Lara is a great champion and one of the most avoided fighters in the world. That is exactly why I wanted him,” Tszyu said.

“I’m ready to take that belt off Lara on the Gold Coast.”

Lara makes his fifth title defence after beating Johan Gonzalez last December. His middleweight championship run also includes stoppage victories over Thomas LaManna, Gary O’Sullivan, Michael Zerafa and Danny Garcia.

“Traveling to Australia to fight Tszyu is something I’m really looking forward to,” Lara said.

“I know he’s a tough fighter, and I respect what he brings to the ring, especially fighting in front of his home fans. But I’ve been in big fights my whole career and I know what it takes to win at this level.”

Jermell Charlo Returns Against Brock Jarvis

Charlo fights for the first time since his September 2023 defeat against Canelo Alvarez. The former undisputed super welterweight champion begins his middleweight campaign against Jarvis, who has stopped 21 of his 23 beaten opponents.

“I’m willing to fight on a co-main event all the way in Australia because that’s how hungry I am,” Charlo said.

“I’ve got so much in me and I wasn’t going to let this year end without giving my fans what they’ve been waiting for.”

Jarvis stopped previously unbeaten Sam Beck in four rounds in August 2025 after losing to Keith Thurman earlier that year.

“This is the fight I have waited my whole career for,” Jarvis said.

“Charlo thinks he’s coming to Australia to restart his career. I’m here to ruin his comeback.”

Liam Wilson Gets a Home Title Shot Against Elnur Samedov

Wilson carries a five-fight winning streak into his challenge, having knocked out Rodex Piala in January. He returns to championship competition after previous fights with Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez.

“Samedov is the champion, so taking it off him means more,” Wilson said.

“I boxed for Australia on the Gold Coast at the Commonwealth Games almost a decade ago. Now, I get the chance to win a world title in the same city.”

Samedov won his belt by stopping John Lenon Gutierrez in the 11th round in February. He brings a 16-fight winning streak into only his second professional appearance outside Russia.

“I know Liam Wilson is a strong fighter and he will have his crowd behind him at home in Australia. That does not worry me,” Samedov said.

“I’m going home with my belt. I will not give it up to anyone.”
