Manny Pacquiao is back. Yes, again. The eight-division legend isn’t done writing chapters—he’s after one more belt, one more night, and maybe one more poor soul to remind what it’s like to fight a storm in human form. On Saturday, July 19, he takes on WBC welterweight champ Mario Barrios in a 12-round fight live on Prime Video Pay-Per-View, streaming from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Sebastian Fundora vs. Tim Tszyu II is also on the bill—a rematch from one of the bloodiest fights of 2024. And there’s more heat on the undercard than a Vegas parking lot in July.
Pacquiao: One More Fight, One More Record?
Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) held court at a Los Angeles media workout this week, alongside long-time trainer and fellow Hall of Famer Freddie Roach. At 45, fresh off his Hall of Fame induction, Pacquiao isn’t easing into retirement. He’s trying to break his own record as the oldest welterweight world champ and do what no other Hall of Famer has done: win another world title after being enshrined.
“Boxing is my passion,” Pacquiao said. “These last four years were good for my body. I’m rested. I’ve still got the fire. Now I just want to punch someone for 12 rounds.”
The “someone” is Mario “El Azteca” Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs)—29 years old, seven inches taller, and not looking to help Pacquiao ride off into the sunset. He’s here to spoil everything.
Fundora vs Tszyu 2: Still Bloody, Still Personal
The first fight left Tim Tszyu leaking like a broken tap. The cut was the headline, but Sebastian Fundora walked away with the belt. Now Tszyu’s back, full camp, full focus, and full of spite.
“He got lucky,” Tszyu said.
Fundora’s reply? “We’ll see if he still bleeds.”
Fair enough.
Cruz vs Fierro II: Mexican Mayhem at 154 lbs
Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Angel Fierro aren’t in the business of soft jabs and scorecard strategy. Their first fight? 1,400 punches in 10 rounds. Cruz edged it. Fierro said, “Nah, that was robbery.”
So now they’re doing it again, this time at 154 lbs, with the WBA super lightweight title in sight. Expect blood, grit, and shots thrown like rent’s due at midnight.
Figueroa vs Gonzalez: Featherweight Redemption Scrap
Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa opens the show against Joet Gonzalez, and both know what time it is. Figueroa needs a bounce-back after dropping his belt. Gonzalez? Still chasing a title after three close calls. Two fighters. One way out. Probably through each other.
