Zorro vs D’Ortenzi – TNT Sports – Oct. 6 – 2 pm ET
London’s York Hall is all set to host the first title defenses of Ellis Zorro and Willy Hutchinson on Friday, 15th September. You can catch all the action live on TNT Sports.
Zorro, who sports an impressive record of 16-0, with 7 KOs, seized the WBO European Championship in a memorable match in May. He won against former British light heavyweight champion Hosea Burton, ending the fight in a blaze of glory. On the other hand, Hutchinson (16-1, 12 KOs) brutally snatched the WBC International title from Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna, sending him to the canvas twice before a fourth-round stoppage.
In another thrilling bout, unbeaten featherweight Masood Abdulah (8-0, 5 KOs) will challenge for the vacant Commonwealth Silver championship, marking his first title opportunity.
As Hutchinson nears his 25th birthday, he’s eager to defend his title and climb the WBC world rankings. The former World Amateur Champion stated, “This is a thrilling new chapter for me. The plan is to chase the big names and make my mark. You haven’t seen the best of me yet.”
Zorro, 30, is equally excited about the swift progress of his cruiserweight career after his victory in the Boxxer tournament in 2022. He expressed his joy about fighting regularly, saying, “I’m just overjoyed to be this active.”
The fight card will also feature Karol Itauma, Carl Fail, Chris Bourke, Joshua Frankham, Sean Noakes, Natty Ngwenya, and debutant Sam King.
Promoter Frank Warren anticipates a night of thrilling boxing, saying, “This is a chance for new champions to hone their skills and for prospects to turn into potential contenders. Our young fighters are developing well and showing promise.”
