Pedroza vs Cardenas – Showtime – Sept. 15 – 9:30 pm ET

Rising from Panama, undefeated boxing prospect Rafael Pedroza is gearing up to face San Antonio’s very own Ramon Cardenas. This 10-round super bantamweight clash promises fireworks, headlining a SHOBOX: The New Generation event.

Pedroza vs Cardanas in on Friday, September 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, live on SHOWTIME, from the Boeing Center at Tech Point in San Antonio, Texas. The tripleheader will showcase fighters whose combined record boasts 88 wins, 2 draws, and 54 knockouts. They’re all stepping up, aiming to make a splash on the national stage.

Pedroza Vs Cardenas -Who Wins?

Only a month after Alexandro Santiago became the 90th SHOBOX alum to capture a world title, the spotlight turns to San Antonio for the second time in the series’ 22-year history. Promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz’s Sampson Boxing, the card features six hungry prospects ready to trade leather in the kinds of matchups SHOBOX is known for. It’s a place where talents transform into contenders. In the co-main event, Mirco Cuello, the undefeated Argentine with 12 wins, will return to the U.S. for the first time since 2020 to fight Rudy Garcia. Rounding out the card, knockout artist Freudis Rojas takes on Saul Bustos in an eight-round welterweight bout, co-promoted by Paco Presents Boxing.

“All three of these matchups promise to be action-packed and epitomize the core mission of the SHOBOX series,” remarked executive producer Gordon Hall. He emphasized that these 50-50 matchups provide an opportunity for these young warriors to show their mettle. He adds, “The main event is particularly interesting because the winner could soon move to contender status in the 122-pound division. It’s going to be a great night.”

The main event, Pedroza vs. Cardenas, features Pedroza stepping out of Panama for the first time to go toe-to-toe with Cardenas. Pedroza’s professional journey began in 2017 after a solid amateur career. Ranked 7th by the WBA, he’s known for his stopping power and his tactical prowess. Cardenas, on the other hand, will have the hometown advantage. Winning his last 10 fights and previously ranked as high as No. 5 by the WBA, he’s getting closer to a world title shot.

Cardenas said, “I’ve been watching SHOBOX since I was a kid, and to be fighting on it as the main event is a dream come true. I’m going to take full advantage of this golden opportunity.”

In the featherweight bout, Argentine Olympian Cuello faces Garcia. Cuello’s power has been his calling card, quickly establishing himself as a force in the professional ranks. Garcia, a seasoned prospect from South-Central Los Angeles, intends to seize this moment and showcase his skills.

“This is an opportunity to let the world know who I am and what I can do,” declared Cuello, while Garcia affirmed, “We intend to take advantage of this moment. This is the next step I need in my career to bring me closer to the world title.”

The welterweight clash between Rojas and Bustos is one to watch. Rojas, 24, is a top prospect with devastating power, having never let an opponent see the final bell. Bustos, training under the guidance of Freddie Roach, will be looking to bounce back from his first professional loss.

“It’s time to show the boxing world who Saul Bustos is,” stated Bustos, echoing the confidence of a fighter ready to make a statement.

The telecast team for this SHOBOX event includes International Boxing Hall of Famers Barry Tompkins and Steve Farhood, with former world champion Raul Marquez and veteran reporter Brian Campbell providing expert analysis.
