Eggingon vs Zysk – Sky Sports – June 25 – 2 pm ET

All fighters were on weight at today’s official BOXXER BREAKTHROUGH weigh ins in Coventry ahead of the  event at the Coventry SkyDome Arena, live on Sky Sports.

The card is packed with powerful young guns and rising stars of the sport, with Adam Azim, Karriss Artingstall and Dylan Cheema all looking on peak form and aiming to score big wins which will raise their profiles even further.

“He’s going to be reaching his heights by 21, 22,” said Azim’s coach Shane McGuigan. “I think he’ll be world champion as early as that. This is just a small step for him… I think there’s going to be a big knockout tomorrow night.”

Another showcase bout sees ‘Savage’ Sam Eggington, the UK’s most consistent crowd-pleaser, challenge Polish powerhouse Przemyslaw Zysk for the vacant IBO Super-Welterweight Championship.

“I think we all know what’s going to happen when I get in the ring. As long as I work on what I do well, we should have a good night,” said Eggington, with some degree of understatement.

BOXXER Founder and CEO Ben Shalom said he expects “absolute war” and a card which will deliver non-stop action.

“Explosive” was the word Adam Azim used at today’s BOXXER: BREAKTHROUGH media day when asked to describe what fans could expect from him at the Coventry SkyDome Arena this Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

“People like entertainment and I bring entertainment. You’re going to see more explosive knockouts, you’re going to see more tricks that you haven’t seen before on Saturday night,” he said.

“This is definitely a great step up for me and I’ve been training really hard for this fight. I’m ready to go on Saturday and hopefully it will be the same outcome as my last four fights.”

Azim’s co-headliner Sam Eggington is also looking for a showcase performance.

“Whether my opponent’s come to box like Mayweather or fight like Tyson, I’ve done everything I can in the gym to make sure I get the win. Fingers crossed this can be the fight to push me onto very big things,” he said.

Further quotes from today’s media day:

Karriss Artingstall on making professional debut: “I can’t wait to get going now. Day in, day out I get in the ring, I get punched and I punch people so I’m used to that kind of stuff. It’s all the little things outside of that that I need to get used to now. Like fighting in front of a big home audience, I’ve never really done that before.”

Lauren Price on Karriss: “Relax and enjoy it. I know she’s trained 100%, she’s absolutely flying. Watched her on the pads this week and it’s the best I’ve ever seen her.”

Dylan Cheema: “I’ve got to be on my game. I’ve got to be sharp. I’m fit and I’m strong so that’s all going to show in the ring on Saturday night. But I can’t afford to drop a round, I’ve got to be on my game for the duration of the fight.”

Cori Gibbs: “You’re going to see a lot more of me in this fight. I’m a lot better when I’m relaxed, and I was under pressure to win right away in the BOXXER Series. Now you’re going to see a more relaxed Cori Gibbs, and a better Cori Gibbs. All my skills, all my power, you’ll be able to see a lot more and I can’t wait.”

Scott Forrest: “Cruiserweight is a big division right now, especially domestically. My debut was just to feel the difference between fighting amateur and professional. My debut opponent had only been stopped four times and had fought a lot of big heavyweights, but I got into my groove and made it my fight, and that’s what I’m here to do on Saturday.”

Ben Shalom on Azim: “He just wants to get in there and fight. He feels no pressure and is obsessed with fighting. That gives me the confidence that he’s going to go all the way.”

Ben Shalom on Karriss: “She has got something about her. She’s special and I think she’s going to light up the professional ranks. I think she’s going to be knocking people out. Savannah Marshall does it, but very few women get stoppages in professional fights and I think Karriss Artingstall can be one of them.”
