Cordina vs Vazquez – DAZN – Nov. 4 – 2 pm ET
Two World Title fights and two more championship bouts are set for Monte Carlo on on Saturday, November 4, viewable globally LIVE on DAZN (excluding – France and French Overseas Territories, Andorra, and Monaco).
Welsh hero Joe Cordina will defend his IBF Super-Featherweight World Title against the esteemed American opponent Edward Vazquez at the renowned Casino de Monte Carlo.
Undefeated Cordina (16-0, 9 KOs), celebrated as one of the standout British fighters of this era, a two-time world champion in just 16 fights, is making his return after his stunning win last April against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov. Interestingly, Cordina is returning to Monaco, the same place where he triumphed over Mario Enrique Tinoco back in November 2019.
The Tony Sims-coached champion, aged 31, is set for a crucial fight against Vazquez (15-1, 3 KOs), who lands his inaugural World Title opportunity on the back of a four-fight victory run. The young Texan’s single setback was a close split decision defeat at the hands of Raymond Ford in May 2022.
There’s another gripping World Title fight ahead. South Africa’s Sive Nontshinga is staking his IBF Light Flyweight title against Mexico’s Adrian Curiel Dominguez (22-4-1, 3 KOs).
The ‘Special One’ Nontshinga (12-0, 9 KOs) is defending his IBF title for the second time, a title he clinched in a memorable contest against Hector Flores Calixto in 2022. This contest is shaping up to be a great 12-round fight.
We will also witness the future prospects of French boxing, as Souleymane Cissokho defends his WBC Silver Welterweight Title against Isaias Lucero.
The 2016 Olympic Bronze winner, maintaining a clean slate as a professional (16-0, 9 KOs), is anticipated to display his remarkable skill set on home ground against the formidable Mexican opponent, Lucero (16-1, 10 KOs).
The motivating journey of Ramla Ali continues. She’s driven to correct her only professional setback in a rematch against Julissa Guzman for the IBF Inter-Continental Super-Bantamweight Championship. The skilled Guzman (13-2-2, 7 KOs) managed to stop Ali (8-1-0, 2 KOs) in the eighth round during their previous encounter in New Orleans in June.
Campaigner Ali, who escaped the conflicts of Somalia at 12 years old to find refuge in the UK, was honored as one of Time Magazine’s Women of the Year for 2023. Additionally, she serves as a global spokesperson for UNICEF and collaborates with brands like Cartier and Christian Dior. Securing a win against Guzman would refuel her ambition of achieving World Champion status in the future.
Additional bouts and ticket information will be provided soon.
“I’m thrilled to fight again at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, defending my IBF Super-Featherweight World Title against Edward Vazquez,” commented Cordina. “Monte Carlo has been good to me; securing the WBA Continental Title during my initial Super-Featherweight bout. I aim to offer another dynamic performance on November 4 and continue my journey to unify the division. Do catch the action live on DAZN.”
