Mbilli vs Nicholson – ESPN+ – Sept. 8 – 6:30 pm ET

Undefeated super middleweight fighter Christian Mbilli will defend his WBC Continental Americas title in a 10-round main event against U.S. contender Demond Nicholson. The event is set for this Friday, Sept. 8, at Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Canada.

The fight card, promoted by Eye of the Tiger, will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. via ESPN+ and kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.

Born in Cameroon and a 2016 Olympian for France, Mbilli boasts an impressive record of 24-0, with 20 KOs. He clinched the Continental Americas belt in September 2021 with a third-round TKO against Ronny Landaeta. Since then, Mbilli has amassed several top-leve wins, such as a dominating performance against American Ronald Ellis and a fifth-round victory over former world title challenger Nadjib Mohammedi. This past March, Mbilli came out on top in a tough fight against Carlos Gongora, winning by unanimous decision.

Nicholson, with a 26-5-1 record and 22 KOs, is a power-punching fighter with a decade-long professional career. He’s coming off a decision defeat to former dual-weight world champion Demetrius Andrade in January.

In a 10-round junior welterweight bout, local hero Steve Claggett, holding a 35-7-2 record with 25 KOs, will defend his NABF title against Mexican veteran Carlos Sanchez, who has a 24-1 record with 19 KOs. Claggett is riding a six-fight winning streak, including a third-round TKO over ex-world champ Alberto Machado.

Rounding out the card is middleweight hopeful Alexandre Gaumont, boasting an 8-0 record with 6 KOs. He’s aiming to extend his knockout streak to five as he faces Ulices Tovar Rivera, who also holds an 8-0 record but with 5 KOs, in an eight-round contest.
