Jaron “Boots” Ennis is done with welterweight.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, the unbeaten Philadelphia puncher jumps to super welterweight and faces Angola’s Uisma Lima in a WBA final eliminator at the new Xfinity Mobile Arena. The fight streams live worldwide on DAZN.
Ennis wants to show the 154-lb division the same firepower he used to rule 147.
Why the Weight Jump Matters
-
Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) unified welterweight in April, forcing Eimantas Stanionis to retire after six punishing rounds.
-
Seven new pounds give him more fuel — and a new set of rivals: Jermell Charlo, Tim Tszyu, Sebastian Fundora, Vergil Ortiz Jr.
-
A WBA final eliminator means he’s not easing in; a title shot could be near if he wins.
“I’m ready to make a big statement in the 154 division,” Ennis said on Matchroom’s Flash Knockdown podcast. “With the extra seven pounds, I’m feeling great. A statement is a knockout.”
Training Camp With Canelo
Ennis left Philadelphia for Lake Tahoe to work alongside Canelo Álvarez.
“It was great being around Canelo. I needed to get out of Philly, get my mind right, and lock in for camp,” Ennis said.
Lima (14-1, 10 KOs) isn’t a stay-busy pick. He’s a pressure fighter who throws in volume and keeps coming forward.
How the Fight Could Play Out
-
Ennis wins if: he controls pace, times Lima’s rush, and lets his power speak mid-rounds.
-
Lima’s shot: push a fast pace, test whether Ennis’ chin and stamina carry to 154.
First fights at new weights can feel different — timing, durability, and gas tank all shift. But Ennis has been smooth and violent for years, and Philly will roar if he delivers.
Prediction: Ennis by KO, rounds 5–7.
